Berlin to Munich
Take the Train — 3h 53m, from €18, ~hourly
The fast ICE services do Berlin Hbf to München Hbf in 3h53 on the upgraded line, though plenty of departures take closer to 4h45 — check the specific train, because the gap is nearly an hour. Sparpreis fares start under €20 if you book ahead and commit to a departure. Flying takes 70 minutes in the air, but BER and Munich airport both cost you the better part of an hour at each end, and the ICE leaves you in the middle of the city.
Every way to make the trip
Only some departures make 3h53 — slower routings run to 4h47. Advance Sparpreis fares are a fraction of walk-up.
Gate to gate. About 2h15 realistic door to door, which is no faster than the quick ICEs.
7h20 at best and often ten hours; worth it only on price.
Times are the fastest scheduled service for each mode; flights are gate to gate, before airport time. Fares are typical advance-booking ranges, not quotes. Checked 5 September 2026. Distance is straight-line — rail and road are longer.
