About
About TieredTravel
Every destination here shows the same trip at three budgets — budget, mid-range, luxury — so you see what changes and what doesn't before you book anything.
Why tiers
Most travel content picks one budget and writes for it, so a backpacker and someone planning a honeymoon read two completely different sites. TieredTravel is one city, priced three ways: the same neighborhood grid, the same list of things to do, but the hotels, flights and daily cost change under each tier. You pick the tier that's yours and everything on the page follows it.
Who's behind it
TieredTravel is built and written by Sergej, an independent developer and traveler. It's a solo project: one person researching the costs, writing the guides, and running the server it lives on — not a newsroom or a content mill. That means it moves slowly by some standards and personally by others; a mistake found and reported gets fixed by the same person who wrote it, usually the same day.
How the numbers are made
The daily cost figures on every city page are researched and set by hand, not pulled from a live pricing feed — the one exception is flights, which are refreshed daily from real fares. The full explanation, including what counts as "budget" versus "luxury" and how often each city's figures get rechecked, is on the methodology page.
How this site makes money
TieredTravel earns a commission when you book something through a link on the site — a hotel, a flight, a tour, an eSIM, travel insurance. Those links go through partners including Booking.com, Kiwi.com, Klook, Hostelworld, GetYourGuide, Viator, SafetyWing and Airalo. It costs you nothing extra either way: the price you see is the price you'd get by booking directly.
Every one of those links carries rel="sponsored"
so it's marked to search engines as well as to you. No partner pays for a better review, a higher rating or
a spot higher on the page — what's recommended is recommended because it's a real place worth the money
at that tier, and the commission structure is the same whichever hotel or airline you click. Where that
hasn't been true — a link that quietly changed target, say — the fix is to say so, not to leave it quiet.
