Venice on $65, $190 or $500 a day
How much does Venice cost per day? Budget travellers get by on about $65 a day, mid-range trips run around $190, and luxury starts near $500 — accommodation, food, transport and activities included.
That makes Venice the 7th most expensive of 82 cities for a mid-range trip — see all 82 ranked.
A city built on oak piles driven into a lagoon, with no cars, no through-roads and a thousand years of trade behind every façade. The crowds on the Rialto are real, but Venice empties after six — and Cannaregio at night, or Torcello on a winter morning, is as quiet as anywhere in Italy.
Budget Venice means staying in Mestre or Cannaregio, eating cicchetti standing at a bacaro counter, and treating the city itself as the attraction — which it is. Walking is free and the best thing you can do here.

Mid-range buys a room inside the city rather than on the mainland, sit-down seafood in Castello, and the ticketed set-pieces — Doge's Palace, the Campanile, a night at La Fenice.
