Walking routes in Florence
Florence is the smallest city on this site with this much in it: the Duomo, the Uffizi, the Accademia and the Ponte Vecchio are inside a circle a kilometre across, and the Arno is the only thing that divides it. Which means the constraint here is never distance — it is opening hours and timed entry, and both routes below are built around them.
The cathedral square and San Lorenzo, down to the Signoria and over the river, finishing above the city at sunset.
Two of the great collections either side of the river, with the artisan quarter and a hillside garden between them.
Planning the rest of the trip
These routes cover the walking. The Florence guide has where to stay, what a day costs at each tier, and what to book before you go.
