Dubrovnik didn't need Game of Thrones — a UNESCO city-state with intact medieval walls was doing fine — but the casting was so perfect it rewired the city's tourism permanently: from season two onward, Dubrovnik WAS King's Landing, its actual streets and fortresses standing in for the capital of Westeros with barely a set dressing. The result is the rare filming-location tour with real substance, because every "that's where Joffrey died" comes attached to five hundred years of genuine Ragusan history, and the good guides braid the two shamelessly.

The canon stops deliver. The Jesuit Staircase down to Gundulić square is the Walk of Shame — Cersei's barefoot penance, now re-enacted daily by tourists with varying commitment (the "shame" bell audio is a guide party trick) — while Fort Lovrijenac, the freestanding sea fortress west of the walls, played the Red Keep through the tournament and Blackwater sequences: its real Latin inscription ("Freedom is not sold for all the gold in the world") out-Westeroses anything the writers managed. The city walls' seaward stretches are Blackwater Bay's ramparts, Pile harbour cove is where Myrcella sailed for Dorne, and the Trsteno Arboretum up the coast (the fuller tours add it) served as the Tyrells' garden of whispered treason. The cruise-plus-walking format is the connoisseur's version: seeing the walls from the water first — the Blackwater view, literally — then walking the locations with the screenshots on the guide's tablet lining up in real time.

Craft: take the morning tour before the staircase gets its crowd, expect roughly two to three hours on foot plus the cruise leg, and know that Lovrijenac entry (often included — check) rides on the city-walls ticket ecosystem. Fans should re-watch a King's Landing episode the night before; sceptics should go anyway — it is, quietly, the best-structured walking tour of the old town's western half, with dragons as the pretext. Iron Throne replicas exist for the photo (one in Lovrijenac, one on Lokrum island, which played Qarth and makes the natural afternoon extension).
