How the numbers work
Every city guide here gives a daily cost for each travel style — the range a day costs one person, and a typical split between where you sleep, what you eat, getting around and what you do. The calculator multiplies that by your nights and travellers: a child aged 2–11 counts as half an adult for food, getting around and what you do, and shares your room; a baby under 2 counts for nothing on the ground.
