Universal Studios Singapore
Southeast Asia's only Universal park, compact enough to conquer in a day — Battlestar Galactica coasters to Minion Land, on Sentosa.
About Universal Studios Singapore
Universal Studios Singapore is the region's only Universal park and the rare theme park improved by being small: seven themed zones around one lagoon, walkable end to end in ten minutes, which means a well-played weekday covers every headline ride before lunch. It opened in 2010 as the anchor of Sentosa's Resorts World and has kept itself current — Minion Land opened in 2025 as the park's newest zone, joining Ancient Egypt's excellent Revenge of the Mummy (indoor coaster, best ride in the park), the duelling Battlestar Galactica coasters (Human sits, Cylon inverts — ride both, Cylon first), and Transformers' still-sharp 3D dark ride.
Singapore-specific intel: the heat and the afternoon thunderstorm are part of the plan. Arrive at rope drop (10 AM), do the outdoor coasters first, save the indoor rides (Mummy, Transformers, the shows) for the midday burn and the 3 PM rain, and the park empties noticeably after 5 while staying open into the evening. Queues here are gentle by Universal standards — 30 minutes counts as long on a weekday — which makes the Express Pass an indulgence rather than the necessity it is in Orlando.
Buy the dated ticket online (gate prices are higher and the park occasionally caps), and treat Sentosa as the wrapper: the cable car in from HarbourFront is the scenic arrival, Skyline Luge next door absorbs post-park energy, and Wings of Time on the beach closes the island's day. One honest note for coaster veterans: this is a family-calibrated park — thrilling enough, but the day's magic is density, theming and the absence of the two-hour queue.
