Amsterdam to Paris
Take the Train — 3h 20m, from €35, 10 a day
Eurostar — the old Thalys, rebranded after the 2023 merger — runs the route about ten times a day in a little over three hours, Amsterdam Centraal to Gare du Nord, from €35 if you book early. That is competitive with flying once you count Schiphol and the RER in from CDG. Coaches undercut everything at around €15–20 but the fastest are still five and a half hours and the typical one is eight.
Every way to make the trip
Direct high-speed service. First class with a meal runs about €165.
Gate to gate. Schiphol is well connected, but CDG to central Paris adds another hour.
The 5h25 services are the exception; budget for around eight hours on a typical departure.
Times are the fastest scheduled service for each mode; flights are gate to gate, before airport time. Fares are typical advance-booking ranges, not quotes. Checked 5 September 2026. Distance is straight-line — rail and road are longer.

Compare car hire at either end. Returning the car in the other city usually adds a one-way fee, and across a border it can run to several hundred euros — check it before you book.

The cheapest fare our own price crawler has recorded on this pair is $67. It is a price we saw, not one on offer now.
A regional travel eSIM covers you across the whole trip — no roaming bill and no hunting for a local SIM at each border. Install it before you fly.
Both ends of the trip
Travelling the other way? The comparison is the same — Paris to Amsterdam runs on the same services, and both directions are covered above.
