Triana and the river in three hours
Over the bridge to the potters' quarter, the market on the old castle, and back along the water.
The six-hour route stays on the cathedral side. Triana is across the Guadalquivir and was a separate world for most of its history — sailors, potters, flamenco and the Inquisition's prison, which the market is now built on top of. It is also where Sevillanos go in the evening, so walk it late and cross back over the bridge at dusk.
The route, stop by stop
-
Puente de Isabel II
The oldest iron bridge in Spain, from 1852, and modelled on one in Paris that no longer exists. Triana starts the moment you are across it.

Mercado de Triana
Built on the ruins of the Castillo de San Jorge, headquarters of the Inquisition for three centuries. The cellars underneath are a free museum and almost nobody goes down.
40 min here Walk here → -
Calle Betis
The riverfront terrace of coloured houses that every photograph of Seville from the other bank is actually of. Bars the whole way; the view back at the Torre del Oro is the point.
35 min here Walk here → -
Capilla de los Marineros
Home of the Esperanza de Triana, the Virgin the quarter carries in Holy Week and argues about the rest of the year. Free and usually quiet.

Torre del Oro
Back across the bridge on the far bank. A 13th-century Almohad watchtower that once anchored a chain across the river to close the port.
