Karnak and the Avenue of Sphinxes in three hours
The great hypostyle hall of Karnak, then down the processional avenue to Luxor Temple as it is lit after dark.
Karnak and Luxor Temple were joined by a processional avenue lined with sphinxes, along which the statues of the gods were carried every year at the Opet festival. The avenue was dug out from under the modern town and reopened in 2021, so it can be walked again. Start at Karnak in the late afternoon and reach Luxor Temple as the lights come on.
