Antalya's old town sits inside Roman and Ottoman walls on a cliff above its original harbour, and the whole of it is about a kilometre across. The route runs downhill to the water and finishes in the park along the clifftop, which is where the city watches the sun go down behind the mountains.

  1. Hadrian's Gate

A triple marble arch built for the emperor's visit in 130 AD, and still the way into the old town.

  2. Kaleici Old Town

Ottoman houses on Roman street lines, most now guesthouses. Narrow, shaded and easy to lose an hour in.

  3. Yivli Minaret

A fluted brick minaret from the 1230s that is the symbol of the city and visible from most of it.

  4. Antalya Old Harbour

The Roman port, in use until the 1970s and now yachts and boat trips. The switchback road down is steep.
